Itzel is a three-room nightclub on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, occupying the space that was Funky Buddha for over two decades. The rebrand split the venue into a hip hop main room, a house-led basement called the Moon Room, and a late-night taqueria — a different proposition to the single-room club it replaced.
The Age Policy
Itzel is strictly 18+. There is no concession for younger guests on a table booking, with a birthday, or arriving with an older group.
ID Is Required — And It Has to Be Physical
Itzel asks for valid physical photo ID. A photograph of your passport on your phone will not be accepted, and neither will a digital wallet copy. Bring the document itself.
Accepted:
- Passport
- UK photocard driving licence
- EU or EEA national identity card
- PASS-accredited proof-of-age card
Every member of your group needs their own. One person carrying ID for everyone does not work, and a group turned away at the door for a single missing document is the most avoidable way to lose a night.
Why They Check Everyone
Mayfair licensing is enforced hard, and venues check on the door regardless of how old someone looks. Expect to be asked even if you are comfortably over 18 — it is not a judgement, it is the licence.
Turning 18
If someone in the group turns 18 on the night, bring ID showing the date of birth. The door works from the document, not from the story.
Planning a Birthday
For 18th and 21st birthdays, check every guest has physical ID before you leave. See our Itzel birthday packages guide for how to put the night together, or read the dress code before you decide what to wear.
