Kensington Roof Gardens closed as a nightclub in January 2018. The rooftop above 99 Kensington High Street reopened in 2024 as The Roof Gardens, a private members' club. As of October 2026 there is no guestlist, no door entry and no table booking for non-members, and London Night Guide cannot arrange entry. This page keeps the story of the old club and points to London clubs you can still book.
What The Roof Gardens is now
The Roof Gardens now runs as a private members' club, with dining, bars and terraces around the original gardens. Entry is through membership, as a member's guest or at a private event booked with the club. Turning up on a Friday night expecting a door price will not work.
London clubs you can book instead
If you wanted Roof Gardens for a glamorous, dress-to-impress night out, these are open and bookable through London Night Guide:
- Tape London: Mayfair's celebrity hotspot for hip-hop and R&B.
- The Box: the Soho cabaret club, with late shows on the night.
- Dear Darling: an intimate two-floor venue with a free guestlist.
- Maddox: the Mayfair club for a late, high-energy night.
- Reign: the champagne showclub on Piccadilly.
The old Kensington Roof Gardens (history)
For decades the venue was one of London's best-known rooftop clubs. Time Out described three themed gardens spread over 1.5 acres high above Kensington High Street, with Spanish, Tudor and English Woodland sections around the dance floor and bars.

In its club years, entry on Friday and Saturday nights was around £20 to £25, women arriving before 11pm often got in free, bottles started at about £140 and tables at about £1,000 minimum spend. Those prices belong to the old club and no longer apply. The door was strict: smart dress, no trainers, caps or scruffy jeans.
