What Tape's Halloween Night Is Actually Like
Tape sits at 17 Hanover Square in the middle of Mayfair, and its Halloween nights lean glamorous rather than gory. The room is a hip hop, RnB and Afrobeats venue with a well-dressed, international, slightly older crowd, and Halloween at Tape reflects that: think tailored, styled, expensive-looking costumes rather than shop-bought horror. The production usually gets a lift for the night — dressing, lighting and performers built around whatever theme the venue runs — but the fundamentals of the club stay the same. A few practical things decide how a Halloween night at Tape goes. Book the guestlist or table well ahead, because Halloween Saturday is the single most contested night in the London calendar and late enquiries get whatever is left. Arrive early — before midnight on the Saturday, earlier than you would on a normal night — because the queue on 31 October is not a normal queue. Bring physical ID for everyone, since Tape is 18+ and the door checks it properly, and a costume makes that check slower rather than easier. Keep the group balanced, as heavily male groups face a harder door on Halloween than on any other night.
