James Whitmore
Editor-in-Chief, London Night Guide
I am James Whitmore, Editor-in-Chief at London Night Guide. I write about London nightlife with a focus on accessible venues, value-for-money nights out, and what the city actually looks like for the people heading out, whether that is a group of visitors seeing London for the first time or a local planning a birthday. I have covered the scene for travel and lifestyle publications, and I have spent years learning how London clubs really work from the door inwards.
What I Cover
My focus is the mainstream, accessible side of London nightlife rather than the closed-door VIP world. That means the things most people actually need answered before a night out:
- - Birthday, hen and stag party planning at London clubs
- - Entry prices, what to expect at the door, and how booking works
- - Area guides and dinner-to-club combinations across central London
- - Honest, practical advice for groups and first-time visitors
Experience
- - Travel and nightlife journalist
- - Specialist in mainstream London venues
- - Birthday and group booking expert
- - Reviews 50+ venues a year
How I Work
Everything I publish is grounded in firsthand experience of the venues. I go out, I watch how the door handles different nights, I note what tables actually cost and what is included, and I write it up plainly. Recommendations are based on what genuinely suits a group, not on marketing copy. If a venue is not right for a certain occasion, I say so.
London Night Guide's concierge service is free, and the goal of everything I write is simple: help you plan a night out that actually lives up to the city.
