While Tonteria, when translated in English means foolishness, we find the word so unfitting for this classy and kitschy latest venture of Guy Pelly, the same man behind the legendary Whisky Mist and Mahiki, and not to mention the bestfriend of the princes. Once you walk inside Tonteria, you will immediately notice that they cater to the same clientele with the two mentioned clubs albeit no title before your name and trust fund is needed to be seen here. You will also feel like you have been transported into a hacienda in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico without even boarding a plane. How do we get in, you ask? Tonteria guestlist is the answer.

As you can tell, Tonteria is a Mexican tapas lounge and tequila night spot located in the heart of Sloane Square. According to their website, “during early evening the venue specialises in offering yummy bite-sized Mexican tapas alongside delicious tequila cocktails.” They are well known for their love of sharing, hence some of the famous sharing cocktails inspired by Mexico such as, “The Mayan Pyramid”, “The Lucky Luchador” and “The Tequila Slammer”. All are no doubt definitely great for enjoying with your friends.

If you feel like dancing the night away, stay in your seat because as the evening approaches, you will hear the DJ increase the level of the music while the lights dim turning Tonteria guestlist into a fun and festive night spot. They pride themselves on theatrical entertainment so look out for the Tonte performers who might get you do some dance off and the famous toy train on the ceiling that actually delivers drinks to the table. Tonteria dress code policy for the ladies is sexy and trendy in heels while for the gents smarty/elegant with elegant shoes (no trainers allowed). The club’s standard entry fee is £20. Since the door operns at 11pm, ladies will have a complimentary entry from 11pm to 11:45pm. After that a £20 needs to be paid. If you feel like having a pre-party meal, Tonteria will start letting people in at 9:45pm. Free entry for ladies while gents pay £20. Tonteria being a Mexican place, don’t be surprised with a menu full of tapas and margarita cocktails.
